THIS goes to the heart of an issue that applies to music as well. The dumbing down of artistic quality. How to avoid/resist/surpass it?
With every change in industry and society there are pros and cons. Obviously a pro is that virtually anyone can now make an album, upload photos, etc. Are there more pros than that though? How do we educate people on good and bad quality art? Am I pompous to even state that?
This is something that bothers me at the core. I find it intimidating to not just be competing against other musicians, but literally everyone who decides to fancy themselves a musician. The same groove that I record and play with skill can be re-created by a novice with Garage Band loops. Is that a good thing?
